Quadruplets Birth: Father of New Born Babies Flees

Amongst the Yorubas of South-western Nigeria giving birth to more than one child (twins, triplets ….) is viewed as a thing of joy.  It is widely believed by members of this ethnic group that such children will bring onto the family financial success, good health amongst other things.

However, the joy of giving birth to 4 healthy tots has turned into news of despair for a 35 year old farmer Mr Akeem Adeyemo of this ethnic group. When the news was broken to him that his wife, Mrs Ramota Adeyemo had given birth to quadruplet, he not only fled from the vicinity of the hospital, but every since Sunday when the children were given birth too he has remained incommunicado.

According to sources ,Mr Adeyemo instead of jubilating disappeared from the vicinity of the hospital, on the pretex that he was going to bring some materials for his wife.
“Immediately the message of the birth was conveyed to the father of the quadruplets, he took to his heels, saying that God has made my cup run over,” his friend said, adding that he said, “as a poor farmer, I already have four children and I don’t know where to get the money to take care of extra four children.”

The new bundles of joy are reported to be of good health. The mother of the quadruplets who his recuperating from the caesarian section performed on haer is meanwhile appealing to well meaning Nigerians to come to her rescue.

Mrs Adeyemo, a petty trader has sent out a special appeal to the state governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola ,Mr Soji Ajayi and Evangelist Nathaniel Arabambi, both chairmen of Irewole and Ayedaade local government areas respectively, as well as their wives, to come to her aid.
